Abstract

Affected by shipment delay of new platform products in the first quarter of 2011, the Greater Chinese notebook PC industry's shipment volume failed to score previously-expected double-digit growth in the second quarter of 2011, owing to several factors. Factors included slow economic recovery, and even though the Greek debt crisis is eased temporarily, debt problems in other European countries remain, resulting in weak market demand in the European region. In order to lower high inventory levels as soon as possible, it is observed that branded vendors lowered notebook PC price tags in their respective regions or sell the products to emerging markets with reduced price tags and placed fewer orders with the manufacturers.
